Goodbye to school

8-6 Friday 7:20 pm

It just finished raining. Now it is rush hour for here, and the traffic sounds are really loud. People honk A LOT here, sometimes even if they know there is no way they are going to be moving anytime soon. They will just lay on the horn.

My last day of class was today. I got a little choked up at the end. I had to put my sunglasses on for a little while so no one would see me cry.

Luz, Erica and Luis were such great teachers. We had a lot of fun conversations about life, politics, food, culture. Erica is an especially talented teacher and I will miss her sweet smile.

The three weeks flew by and I still feel like I have trouble composing a simple sentence in Spanish, something I hadn't anticipated. I thought I would be a lot better by now. I should have studied more at night instead of reading stupid novels in English.

But my comprehension has gotten a lot better. Now I do feel like I speak Spanish after a fashion. Sometimes after a long fashion.

I went to Cafe Le Antigua as usual after school. I ordered a piece of cake to celebrate my last day. The dog that lives there (the unquiet dog) definitely has a home and owners, but is still very skinny. I see her following the male owner with a look of such love and devotion, but he ignores her. I feel so bad for the poor dog.

I fed her most of my whipped cream frosting. She loved it. She ate it like it was the best thing on earth, and begged and begged for more.

She will probably have the poops from it, but at least she got some high-fat food.

When I go home, Goldie will look so healthy comparatively!
